Doing the day-end closing and Z-report
The day-end closing finalises the till day: you count the cash in the drawer, the system compares it with the recorded cash revenue and records the difference. The Z-report is then your fixed record for accounting.
Step by step
- 1
Open the closing
Go to Closing. You'll see the day's revenue per payment method, the tips and the open tables.
- 2
Handle open tables
Settle open tables or carry them over to the next day. A day with open bills gives an inaccurate cash overview.
- 3
Count the cash
Enter the counted amount per denomination. The system automatically calculates the difference from the expected cash amount, including change and cash withdrawals.
- 4
Run the Z-report
Confirm the count. The Z-report is recorded and can be printed immediately on the receipt printer.
- 5
Send to accounting
Open Accounting and export the day's or period's revenue by VAT rate to Exact Online, Twinfield, SnelStart or as an XAF audit file.
Good to know
- Record cash withdrawals and change during the day as a cash movement; then the cash difference will be correct in the evening.
- Let staff close their own shift; tips per staff member are then calculated automatically.
- Z-reports are kept, so you can look up every till day afterwards.
Frequently asked questions
What's the difference between an X-report and a Z-report?
An X-report is an interim status you can pull as often as you like. A Z-report finalises the till day and records the revenue.
Can I do the day-end closing per location?
Yes. Each location closes its own day; in the group report you then see the locations side by side.
How do I deliver the revenue to my accountant?
Via Accounting you export revenue by VAT rate and payment method to, among others, Exact Online, Twinfield, SnelStart or an XAF audit file.
