Setting up the customer display with ads
With the customer display your customer can follow along: every product you ring up appears large on screen, with discount and total. Ring up nothing, and your own ads play on that same screen. You need a second monitor or tablet and the Customer display & ads module.
Step by step

Turn on the module
Go to Subscription. If Customer display & ads isn't in your plan, enable it there. Customer display then appears in the menu under Screen management.

Open the second screen
Connect the second monitor and tap the Customer display button at the top right of the till, or open the Open customer display button under Customer display and drag that window to the second screen. Set it to full screen there.

Pair a separate device
Using a separate tablet or a second PC? Scan the QR code on the Customer display page or open the shown link on that device. The screen remembers your business and shows correctly right after startup.

Choose the order list style
Under Display, choose a style: an orange total bar, calm with a large total, or the latest product highlighted. Also set whether the ad keeps playing alongside the ticket and after how many seconds of inactivity the screen falls back to ads.

Fill the playlist
Upload photos and videos, or create a text slide with your own title, text and background colour. With an offer slide you pick a product from your till and the name, price and image are added automatically.

Order and schedule
Drag the slides into the right order and set a duration per slide. Want to show a lunch offer only between 11am and 3pm? Choose the days and time slot for that slide. Use Preview to see the playlist as the customer sees it.
Good to know
- Videos play muted by default; only turn on sound if the screen hangs far from the till.
- Keep slides short: 8 to 12 seconds per image works best at the till.
- Set the display to fill for portrait screens and to fit if the whole image must stay visible.
Frequently asked questions
Do I need special hardware?
No. Any second monitor, tablet or old laptop works. With SmartPOS Dual the customer display is already built into the till.
What does the customer see while paying?
The amount due with instructions to follow on the card terminal, then a thank-you screen with any loyalty points earned. Shortly after, the ads start playing again.
Can I temporarily turn off the ads?
Yes. Turn off the ads under Display; the screen then shows your welcome message whenever the till is idle.
